QVBC Sanctuary

The Queen Village Bible Church, formerly the Pilgrim Holiness Church of Camden, NY, began as an afternoon Sunday School in the home of Dorothy White on Hillsboro Road. In 1961, Rev. Daniel Shumway became pastor of this young flock. They then began holding services in a rented Free Methodist church in the Village of Camden. Then in the year 1967, under the direction of Rev. Shumway, the growing flock bought the former Wolcott Hill Schoolhouse building located just outside the village, that is still the present location, and converted it into a church.

In the summer of 1967, Rev. James Sherman became pastor and immediately a new parsonage was built on the property. Then in 1974, the church was added on to in order to double the seating capacity.

In 1978, Rev. W.F. McCulley became the pastor. In 1979, Rev. McCulley went home to be with the Lord. After his death the church did not have a pastor until the summer of 1980, when Rev. Wesley Holden came as pastor. It was under his leadership that the entire basement of the church was remodeled and Sunday School class rooms were added.

In 1985, Rev. Daniel Heckman came as pastor and pastored the congregation for three years.

In 1988, Rev. David Bubb became pastor and has been pastoring the growing flock to the present time. Since Pastor Bubb’s arrival as pastor, a Bus Ministry has been started, the congregation has experienced great growth , a new All-Purpose building was erected in 1996. Then in 1998 an office complex was added. In 1999 the interior of the church was remodeled. In the Spring of 2004 the church voted unanimously to withdraw from the Pilgrim Holiness Conference and the new name Queen Village Bible Church was adopted. In the Summer of 2005 the church was added on to with a brand-new entrance and 50% more seating capacity. In October of 2006 Ron Payne came on staff as full time co-pastor until October 2009. During that time an active men’s and ladies ministry were started.
Yes, there have been heartaches, heartbreaks, disappointments, and some have turned from the faith. But many have followed Christ and the Queen Village Bible Church is still a shining lighthouse, where the Word of God is taught clearly every week and many are coming to know Christ. Our commitment is to Jesus Christ and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19, 20) and we still believe that our best days are just ahead.
